I was honored when Heather, the boys ISR instructor, asked me to take her daughter’s senior pictures.  Honored, elated, and so excited!!!  Luckily, I had taken Mckenzie’s pictures with her brother and sister last summer, so I knew we would have fun.  I am thrilled with how these turned out, and hope they don’t look like everyone else’s ;)

Look for big things from this one ladies and gentlemen, I can’t wait to run into Dr. Fee one day.  My one piece of advice to you Miss Mckenzie: Don’t ever give up on your dream.  No matter the time, blood, sweat, tears, and money it takes to get there, it will be worth it.  You are going to be awesome.

2011 Seniors!  If you like what you see, give me a call!  Here are the details:

I think we can agree on a couple things during this post.

#1 – It’s H.O.T. Outside

#2 – We all love SALES!

Soooo…I am announcing a Summer Sale at My Bluegrass Baby Photo!

It will work in a couple ways.  But first you have to look at some pics of my family from Vacation :)

Nate’s parents take the family on vacation every year.  Whether it is the beach or the lake, we always have an good time (although I have to admit, vacations with your kids shouldn’t be called vacation – I think I was more tired when I got back than before I left).  The trip was so much more special this year because the WHOLE family was there, and it was Nolan and Leigh’s first vacation with their aunts and uncles!

We went to the OBX (for those of you without a license to chill, that is the Outer Banks, North Carolina)  The history there is amazing.  I would not hesitate to go back.

More from this later…

Ok, Ok – on to sale details!

Please excuse my lack of wittiness in this blog post.  A crazier weekend with an even busier week ahead has resulted in an extreme need for some ibuprofen.

Once again, life has gotten away from me.  Swim lessons 5 nights a week, demanding times at work, soccer, personal stresses, lots of photo sessions!, and an insurance legal battle have left me running on fumes (not to mention in pain – insurance has stopped paying for my neck/back therapy).

So I am going to stop promising that I won’t do this, and once again, crush everyone’s hopes and dreams of a blog post all to themselves :(  I promise that I will make an attempt to try harder!  But until something gives, I must get my beauty sleep or I am pretty sure I will grow horns.  Red ones.  With glitter…

Here are a few of my favorites from the past few sessions :)

Does this cutie look familiar?  She should :)

I got both of the dogs to look at the camera at the same time.  I gave myself a pat on the back.

It is hard to believe that Grey is 6 months old!

And Tate is already 3 months!  These babies are growing way too fast :(

It is hard for me to look at him and not call him Cooper!  He is his big brother’s mini-me!

And a few maternity pictures for good measure!  Little Amos Jr. is now 1 month old, they live in Louisville, but I can’t wait to meet him.

Goodnight friends!

Canvas!

April 25, 2010

We are getting our first canvas print for the house from http://www.zazagallery.com – Stay tuned!  I am  SOOOO excited!

My Baby Bro….

April 8, 2010

is getting MARRIED!  You heard me right, little Mud found himself an amazing partner in crime (And I mean really amazing.  Seriously.  We are still trying to figure out what is wrong with you Katie…) Just kidding!

They live in this amazing little house in upper Michigan, and they are so happy.  I hate that they are so far away.  But they love it up there.  But a 3 hours trip to even get to a Target?  Count me out.  City girl at heart here, no matter how much I hate to admit it!  Visits.  Lots of visits are hopefully in our future once our kids are all old enough to handle the long car ride.

The wedding will be up there on the lake.  It is going to be so beautiful and I can’t wait!

Scott wanted to wear his camo ballcap.  I gave him 1 photo.  For the rest, I always pulled it off his head once they were posed :)  Embrace your baldness brother!  LOVE YOU!

I think this one is my favorite

No, no.  This one is my favorite – My future nieces and nephews are going to have AMAZING eyes, don’t you think?

Have to add Mom’s favorite

And this picture is what he gets for complaining and calling his sister a goober.

I love you both, and I am SO HAPPY for you.  Wishing you a year full of amazing wedding planning and a life full of wonderful.

Miss Emily Slideshow

When friends have kids…

February 9, 2010

Aunt Heather gets to play!

Meet Tate.

Meet Tate just being adorable

Meet Tate in his brother’s hat

Meet Tate being loved

You will be seeing a lot of this little man.  Are you as excited as me to see him grow up?

Can 2 get any cuter?

February 9, 2010

I don’t think so!

Libbie was such a joy to play with!  Another great client, another great location!  2010 has been AMAZING so far :)

I met Lori and her beautiful family in October at my mini shoot marathon!  Grey was only a few weeks old, and of course it had to be the coldest day of the year thus far!  When she contacted me to shoot Grey’s 3 month photos she suggested an amazing location last minute – The Blue Manatee in Hyde Park.  What is that, you ask?  An AMAZING children’s bookstore!  I had never been there before.  It is cute, colorful, and full of amazing children’s books, and attached to a little cafe.  Not to mention next to the Spotted Goose, and adorable children’s boutique!

What a PERFECT way to kick of 2010 @ My Bluegrass Baby Photo!

Thank you Lori, for introducing me to such a wonderful Cincinnati treasure.  BB will love it when we get the chance to make it back up there!  I can’t wait to see your family (and the dogs!) again in April!

I always get nostalgic when I travel to my old stompin’ grounds. A flood of emotions & memories, and this time was no different – Except for the realization that I am getting old.

I went to high school with Jill, and she now owns a house in the city where we grew up. I travelled there today to meet her baby girl, 13 days old, but still 2 weeks from her original due date.

Mom and Dad are so proud of their precious Emily, and you can now see why.

I have to admit.  Newborn shoots are my favorite!

And the awesome cocoon, you ask?  Another amazing creation sent from my friend Anne Marie of Ambernee Crochet!

This year has brought us MANY ups and downs.  It is time to say goodbye to this decade, and look forward to the fun and exciting things that the next decade will bring for both our family and My Bluegrass Baby Photo!

What are your New Years Resolutions?  I told Nate this morning that his #1 should be to work really really hard on trying his best not to do anything dumb to make me mad everyday…not quite in those words. I love him.

I have many New Years Resolutions…get better at sending birthday cards, get organized, read more, be more patient with my husband (see above), amongst others.

Now on to the fun stuff.  Our 2009 year in review!  My challenge: only 1 picture per month!

January: Waiting on the arrival of Nj and Leigh!

February: The death of my grandfather :(

March: Happy Birthday Nate & Nolan Jude!

April: Brayden turns 3!

May: I am an aunt!!!  Happy Birthday Leigh Susan! And our car accident :(

June: Nj’s 1st trip to the beach and his baptism!

July: Summer Festival fun, and BB learns how to swim!

August: Lake Trips & Soccer Games!

September: My Bluegrass Baby Photo is officially LAUNCHED! Our 10 year High School Reunions, Nolan starts solid foods, we have to put down our precious Aly.

October: Trip to Chicago & BB’s favorite time of the year!  HALLOWEEN!

November: The “Truck”

December: Tree Hunt & SANTA!

I could have done without the death of my Grandpa and Aly, and the car accident that has left me mentally and physically “altered” – but nothing can top the birth of our miracle baby and devoting time to my passion.  Here is to an AMAZING 2010!  Happy New Year!

My Family

December 31, 2009

I love them so much, I only wish I got to see them more.

My amazing Aunt and Uncle, and beeeeeyooooootiful Cousin.

My absolute favorite

Isn’t she adorable? Half of me lives in Colorado.  I miss her about 360 days of the year.

I couldn’t have ended the year on a better note!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Bring on 2010!

COLD. but couldn’t be cuter.

December 29, 2009

Of course we chose the coldest day of the year thus far to get this shoot together – not to mention a busy one.  Black Friday!

This is absolutely one of my favorite families.  ALL 4 of them are beautiful!  You may recognize the little ones – they are all over the website, and as soon as I get a spare second in my day, these will make it to the website too :)

Let’s shake it up and start with my FAV

flippin’ adorable

Jaxon, you are so darn cute

And let’s talk about little Presley….

Can you believe she is 6 months old?

Lucky kids.  They will all be drop dead gorgeous – how could they not be?

I have a very dear friend who is very talented AND she keeps my boys melons warm in the winter!!!

I met Anne Marie through the awesome world of babywearing via TBW.  She now makes hats.  I take pictures of said hats.  We LOVE these hats :)

She just set up a facebook fan page.  Join it.  NOW!

Seriously, these hats are AWESOME.  They are the only hats Nj will keep on his head!  And let’s face it – they are super duper cute.

Go to her shop now and get them while they are hot. And bask in the glory of the Wolff cuteness while you are there :)

AMBERNEE CROCHET

whoa.

December 16, 2009

Remember Joey Lawrence when he was on the show Blossom?  His signature line?  Whoa!  If you don’t know what I am talking about, you obviously weren’t a tween in the early 90’s – seriously – Google it.  He was H.O.T.

When I was taking these pictures, that line kept going through my head.

My baby is 9 months old.

Whoa.

I am not even going to talk about what is going to happen in 3 months.  I refuse.

Sorry I have been MIA on the blog.  I ran out of Picasa storage, and am still dragging my feet to make a commitment to a new means of photo storage.  I swore to myself that I wouldn’t pay Google anymore to host my pictures.  I caved.  I admit it.  I am a Google whore.  But that is another post for another day :)

Make YOUR photos better!

November 30, 2009

My 1st blog photo lesson!  Let me make it clear that I am NO photography expert.  I did not go to photography school, what I know about photography I have taught myself through books and the wonderful world wide web.  I am not perfect, but I am trying to get better day by day.

That being said, I get photography questions on a daily basis.  There are a few things that YOU can do to make YOUR everyday pictures just a little bit better without all the studying and research.

Today’s lesson – Turn OFF the flash, or direct the flash elsewhere.

I despise flash photography, you will notice that I don’t take many pictures inside or at night.  Direct flash makes photos very flat and lifeless.

Example of a photo taken with a direct (on camera) flash

Here is almost the same exact photo taken less than a minute later, same camera, same camera settings, same lens, the only thing I did was add an external flash and bounced the light off the ceiling instead of directly on Nj.

What a difference, huh?  It is still not a perfect photo, but notice that the harsh shadows are gone!  Sooo, turn OFF the flash during the day, whenever natural light is available.  And if you have taken the plunge and purchased a DSLR, invest in an external flash for night and indoor photos!

Did this help anyone? Let me know if you would like more mini “lessons” from me on the blog in the future!!

i LOVE my job.

November 29, 2009

I am still coming off the high I got from this session!  Amazing light, amazing people.  I always fall in love with people who bring “props” :)  Bringing things from your life to a session definitely makes photos more personal.

Can I also tell you how much I love this location?!?  These were taken on Brandon’s Grandfather’s property.  His Dad grew up on this land, and he had so many stories about his childhood.  It reminds me of how much I loved my Grandparent’s house growing up, and how sad I was when they had to move.

Ok, Ok.  *Enough* you are saying, I know!  On to the pictures!

The guitar.  Oh, the guitar.  So awesome.

My favorite

Isn’t Ezra adorable?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this

And Heidi is GORGEOUS, don’t you agree?

Another favorite

Thank you Heidi, Brandon, & Ezra – you made my day!

Show business!

November 23, 2009

I have a feeling you will see this little guy on a stage someday!  He is such a ham!  I have never shot a child so young that was so willing to pose!  His sister was another story, she ran from the big black scary monster as fast as she could :)  But I still caught a few frames of adorableness :)

Oh those eyes!

My new FAVORITE!

Thank you Amber for contacting me!  It was so great to see you again and meet your children.  They are beautiful!

When I talk to other photographers, most of them tell me that their least favorite photography subjects are children.  They don’t sit still, they can’t pose them, ect.  That is the reason I LOVE photographing kids.  They don’t put on fake smiles, they don’t pose like statues.  They are just living with what they are given, and that pureness makes the best photos :)

Meet Ryan…

…he is going to be a ladykiller one day with those blue eyes…

…his parents adore him…

…he adores his parents…

…and a second after this frame was shot, I let him fall face first into the mulch :(

…he wasn’t too mad at me….

…I love photographing children :)

Happy 1st Birthday Ryan!
