On Mother’s day, the 3 of us and Grandma Beth went to the Butterfly Show at the Krohn Conservatory.  I LOVE butterflies (ask anyone who attended our wedding) and Mom thought it would be a great thing for us to do on Mother’s Day because she knew I wanted to go and take pictures.  We had a great time, but it was cold and rainy and PACKED – they were letting Moms in for free :)

Brayden didn’t like the butterflies, he wouldn’t touch any of them.  He just wanted to look around, sit by the fish, and play with his rainbow umbrella.  As you can see, the butterflies loved Mom, so if you go, I would advise you to wear yellow or orange!

I am pretty bummed because last night was the deadline to submit your photos for a contest that the Cincinnati Enquirer was running.  I really wanted to submit the first 2 below.

We have our first scraped knees :(

B was pushing his lawnmower a little too fast down the driveway, and his feet couldn’t keep up.  And me being the bad mom I am, of course, had to document it.  Don’t worry, once we got inside, he milked it for all it was worth.  1 mickey and a bath later, he is all cleaned up and in bed.  If only he knew that those poor knees are probably going to get much more abuse in the fun, summer days to come!

Our Landscaping!

May 16, 2008

We worked so hard on our landscaping this year, so I have to share some pictures! Wall construction, 5 loads of topsoil, 2 loads of mulch, 3 new trees, 4 new bushes, and hundreds of flowers later we are finished!

So please pray that our trees stay alive – we have already killed 2 thus far!  We are blaming it on the clay – ha!   Also, B and I are growing herbs on the back deck! He is so excited to “eat” the seeds that we planted!  Hopefully they aren’t being drowned by the Cincinnati area monsoon this week.

The Bike

May 14, 2008

We have been trying to buy B a bike for MONTHS now.  Everytime we go to the store he throws a fit and doesn’t want one.  Well, he found out that Heidi (his cousin) has a bike, and he had to ride it while we were at their house last week.  So of course, he had to get one.  The one stipulation, Grandma said he had to have a helmet, and he wanted a PINK helmet.  I told him we would have to ask Daddy, and he started screaming “NO!  Daddy is not here!  I want a PINK helmet!  Daddy is not here!”  So he obviously knows that Daddy doesn’t like him to like pink :(   Which I think is totally absurd.

We had the day off yesterday and had an amazing day.  We went to the zoo, went to the P&G Hangar at Lunken to have lunch with Grandma Kathy, then we went to buy a bike.  We got the only trike they had, which luckily is the one I wanted for him.  Then it was time to pick out a helmet.  Of course, at first he said pink, but he settled with yellow.

When we got home, he went down for a nap, and when he woke up, he had obviously forgotten about his bike (very unusual, he usually wakes up remembering EXACTLY what he wants to do).  We were sitting on the couch eating a snack, and about 15 minutes later he looked at me and said “Where’s my bike?” Of course, the whole time I was waiting for it, so we went outside (camera in hand of course), strapped on his helmet to no complaint, and examined this bike UP AND DOWN.  Seriously, he would walk around it, touch it, ask me what the various parts were, sit on it, move it around a little, get up and examine some more.  After about 15 minutes, he said “This is not my bike, take it back to the store.  This is a baby boy bike“.  I explained to him that this was his bike, and it was a big boy bike, so I think we are all good now.

Without further ado….The Bike Exam.

Happy Mother’s Day!

May 12, 2008

A picture of some amazing tulips….for all the amazing moms in our lives :)

We had an awesome day, even though the weather didn’t cooperate.  I started by getting woken by my little man screaming “Happy Mommy’s Day Mom!” while struggling to get on the bed with a card.  We picked up Grandma Beth and went to First watch for some yummy breakfast, then headed to the Krohn Conservatory for the Butterfly show.  It was beautiful, but crowded, and B was scared of the butterflies!  We then went home and took a LONG nap, then picked Grandma back up and went to Papa Nick and Grandma Kathy’s house for dinner.  It was a wonderful day.

Happy Mother’s Day to our 2 amazing mothers.  We love you so much.  Thank you for everything, we couldn’t be more grateful to have you in our lives.  We are so lucky.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day, and are as lucky in life as we are!

More pictures from the butterfly show to follow, as well as final pictures of our landscaping that is finally complete!

Spare another prayer

May 6, 2008

Please pray for Samuel today.  I have been following his story for about 2 years now, and it looks like he may lose his battle soon.  This little boy has been an inspiration for many, please pray that his family can find peace in God’s decision.

Hit that one!

May 1, 2008

Funny story I have to share.

Mom had a run in with a concrete pole at a gas station with B in the car 3 days ago.  The pole won.  Now everytime they pass a gas station, B screams “Mamaw, hit that one!” I had to put it in writing so she can’t deny in the future that it didn’t happen :)

B has become a chatterbox.  From the time he wakes up until the time he goes to sleep, he is talking.  He tells stories, he barks orders, he is just plain funny.  I am so sad to see him growing up so fast, but at the same time it is so much fun!

He starts gymnastics tonight!  Aaahhhh!!!  Pics to come of course.

And because no blog entry is fun without a picture:
